About the Artist

I'm a UK based artist born in Nottingham, now living in Whitchurch-on-Thames in the beautiful countryside of The Chiltern.

Like natures cycles of destruction and rebirth, chaos and order, so is my approach to art. Creating peaceful harmonies with layered pours, bold contrasting brush strokes and unrepeatable abstract watermarks. I am always striving for a certain balance... or... purposeful imbalance.

Taoism & Zen are closely related to my art, encompassing the understanding of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of remaining in the now. also highlighting the polarity in nature that in turn creates balance.

It is this balancing of Yin and Yang that is at the heart of my painting.

I have always appreciated the simplicity within Zen practices and it is this again that has become influential to my work in the minimal approach to the application of medium and the use of negative space, transparency and simple composition to my work.

There is beauty in the unfathomable outcomes of chance.
